AS: a nightmare that isn’t almost as frightening as it appears

• Una historia + precisa que los números convencionales
• A more precise story than the conventional numbers

eBA Great DEBATE: Basketball Advanced Statistics OR / AND / WITH  Conventional Statistics... !

The basketball advanced statistics – a nightmare that isn’t almost as frightening or confused as it gives the impression – pretends to find out a more precise story than the conventional numbers.

A cardinal axiom of basketball: Possessions change back and forth. Following each possession, a team transfers the ball to its opponent. Regardless how quick or slow-moving a team plays, its opponent will gain the identical number of possessions (give or take end-of-quarter occasions where a team that began the period with the ball closes out the quarter with it).

Therefore, for the basketball advanced statistics, offensive evaluation and points per game – or defensive evaluation and points avowed per game – as a rule go closely associated.

But, frequently enough, points per game and points avowed per game are deceiving.
